An Act to make provision to protect the privacy of individuals, and for related purposes. The Privacy Act 1988 applies to Australian Government agencies and organisations with an annual turnover of more than $3 million, and some other organisations. Most state and territories also have their own privacy laws which cover their public sector agencies and there are a number of Australian laws other the Privacy Act that relate to privacy.
